We are moving to Wordpress

Dear supporter, friend of Zaharibu,

We, the webteam, decided that Wordpress may be a better platform to spread the word about Zaharibu Dorrough. Therefore we have moved the contents of this blogsite to: Zaharibu.wordpress.com, which if all goes well, will also be reachable via the URL Zaharibu.org and MichaelReedDorrough.org!

Only the usual "mapping" as was possible on this blogger site is no longer possible before we purchase this at Wordpress (that is the only disadvantage, plus the layout here looks nicer, but we do need a large platform for Zaharibu's message of innocence!).

Let us know if you have any questions: Zaharibu @ yahoo.com, thank you!

I am no closer to going to general population than i was 26 years ago

I am no closer to going to general population than i was 26 years ago

It is very obvious here that they have no intention of releasing certain people to general population – they are issuing rules violation reports and finding [certain] people guilty for things that make it obvious that it’s politics. I mentioned in a previous letter that we were issued “rules violations reports.”

I believe that the closer certain people get to being considered for release, these “Rules Violations Reports” will be used to justify retaining those people in SHU.
I am no closer to a general population than i was 26 years ago. And the same thing can be said for a number of prisoners.

And because so many of us are being issued “Rules Violations Reports” that have absolutely nothing at all to do with gang activity (except in the warped thinking of the i.g.i. [institutional gang investigators] no one is interested in engaging in any of what the Cdcr proposes – and no one should expect us to subordinate ourselves to things like this.

The Cdcr should be willing to admit that certain people will not be released for whatever reason – and then commit themselves to developing programs for those prisoners.

The state would love to have us – still – fighting this battle years from now – while they continue to subject us to torture – and deprive us the opportunities to re-connect with our families and loved ones, and really, nothing has changed. There are no programs at all in place – and, the policies as to the privileges that were available in SDP [Step Down Program] have been reduced.

People here want to program, they look for light at the end of the tunnel, but only see darkness.

Medical update

Update from Michael Zaharibu Dorrough D-83611, from Nov 6th, 2014, from the prison hospital:

"Wanted to let you know that I was (finally) taken out to see the neuro-surgeon (doctor Rahimifar, he has a practice in Bakersfield). He decided against surgery for now. I must continue to wear the neck brace for another 2 weeks and another follow-up appointment in 2 weeks by tele-conference.

The doctor was surprized to see me, and that was the best proof of me not being taken out to the follow-up appointment last month was intentional. I am now just waiting to see what kind of treatment plan they will develop for me. Naturally I have no faith in them (or even honoring the follow-up tele-conference). Love to all."

Zaharibu is in hospital

Last October, following emergency 602s (grievances) and a short hunger strike for medical care, Zaharibu was moved to the prison hospital at Corcoran. He was being treated for his spine, for which he was sent to an outside hospital Mercy Hospital) to have an MRI scan. This scan showed that surgery may be necessary.

For almost 3 years Zaharibu was told that nothing is wrong with his back... And now the MRI scan shows a different story. There was supposed to be a follow-up appointment with the doctor at Mercy Hospital, within 10 days. The 10 days ended on October 19th without Zah having spoken to the doctor...  Zah has also submitted a medical appeal requesting that he be taken out to the hospital, or provided with an explanation why he has not been taken to see the doctor again.

Please write to Michael (Zaharibu) while he is in hospital! He can do with some mail!

Medical Alert: Zaharibu's allowed extension cord was taken - he was moved to a single cell

Michael Zaharibu Dorrough was moved last week from his cell which he shared with his comrade and who helped him with the medical issues, to a single cell, because of his CPAP-Machine (to help against sleep apnea). It was a move against his will.

The Assistant Wardens did not allow him to use his extension cord, which he has had since a year without any danger, and the rules are such that he IS ALLOWED to have it. Still, the AW's took the cord and moved him to a single cell where they think he can use his CPAP-machine. But the cord is STILL too short!

They have not done anything to ensure Mr Dorrough can use the CPAP Machine properly. They do not care. In fact, one of the Assistant Wardens is supposed to help Prisoners with Disabilities. She allegedly went out of her way to have the extension cord taken away. Why?

Please help ensure better quality of medical care for Mr Dorrough and hundreds, maybe thousands more prisoners held indefinitely in dark, dirty cells 23/24 hours a day 7 days a week. Please write in protest to: Medical Receiver Kelso, at CPHCSCCUWeb@cdcr.ca.gov:
